Ever wonder what happens AFTER you are offered an academic position?  What is expected of you and what opportunities will you have? What should you say or do, and how do you determine what you can negotiate and what is non-negotiable?

This workshop provides a detailed overview of the negotiation process, including an understanding of the important elements of your overall hiring package that are, and are not, negotiable, and how best to address them. Learn how to negotiate your salary, develop your start-up package, and address the other negotiable, but non-salary elements of your offer. Don’t wait to find yourself saying, “I only wish that I knew THEN what I know NOW.”  Find out NOW about how you can maximize the goodness-of-fit between your needs and your institutions’ resources in support your common interest in one shared objective: YOUR SUCCESS!

Learning Objective 1

Identify at least two elements of a job offer that are negotiable, and two that are not.
