An introduction to pediatric neuropsychology, description of the evaluation process, discussion of current issues in the field, and information to help providers identify when to make a referral. Two clinically relevant populations—pediatric traumatic brain injury and severe psychiatric illness—will be discussed in further detail. Definitions, cognitive factors and course, neuroimaging findings, and current directions related to these populations will be discussed.
