During this presentation, participants will learn about the development and implementation of the Salud es Vida (Health is Life) promotora program in rural Georgia, which targets Hispanic immigrants from low-income and farmworker backgrounds to deliver cervical cancer screening information. The Salud es Vida program is delivered by a promotora in a small group setting.

Although the LGBT community has come a long way in the fight for equality, education still hasn’t caught up. Sex Education programs need to be LGBT inclusive so that LGBT youth can be in a learning environment where they feel safe and supported by their peers and teachers. Implementing comprehensive and inclusive sex education has been proven to positively impact the attitudes and sexual behaviors of both LGBT and heterosexual students.

Students preparing for helping professions who understand the influences of income on health are better equipped to address health challenges in communities and in their future careers. Universities have a responsibility to bolster and provide a safe environment for students to build and practice their 21st-century skills.

High human papillomavirus (HPV) prevalence and low HPV vaccine uptake are significant public health concerns. Disparities in HPV-associated cancers and HPV vaccine uptake rates suggest the need for additional research examining factors associated with vaccine acceptance. This study assessed HPV awareness and knowledge and identified sociodemographic characteristics associated with HPV knowledge at the population level.
