Although the LGBT community has come a long way in the fight for equality, education still hasn’t caught up. Sex Education programs need to be LGBT inclusive so that LGBT youth can be in a learning environment where they feel safe and supported by their peers and teachers. Implementing comprehensive and inclusive sex education has been proven to positively impact the attitudes and sexual behaviors of both LGBT and heterosexual students.

Health education advocacy can be especially challenging for rural health providers due to lack of training, coordination and skills among clients (people living with HIV and AIDS), community volunteers, board members, and staff. Rural providers are often at a distinct disadvantage in developing and implementing health education advocacy projects because of large geographic service regions and disbursed populations.

Background. Young adults living with type 1 diabetes (T1DM) often encounter poor health outcomes, such as uncontrolled blood glucose levels. Social support programs can be a helpful method to support T1DM self-management. Effectively planning and tailoring social support programs for young adults living with T1DM are crucial for improving these programs and associated outcomes.
